This recording captures Nina Rao leading a heartfelt chant of the Hanuman Chalisa, recorded live on May 24, 2026, as part of the Yoga of Devotion program at Satchidananda Ashram, Yogaville.
The Hanuman Chalisa is a devotional hymn of 40 verses (chalisa means "forty" in Hindi) composed by the poet-saint Tulsidas, honoring Hanuman — the monkey deity revered in Hindu tradition for his unwavering devotion, strength, and selfless service to Lord Rama. Chanted widely across India and in devotional communities around the world, it is cherished both for its poetic beauty and for the sense of courage, protection, and devotion it's believed to inspire in those who recite it.
This kirtan was part of a larger Yoga of Devotion retreat that also featured Krishna Das, bringing together practitioners for a weekend of chanting, meditation, and community in the tranquil setting of Yogaville.
